Statement
"Color, shape, and the illusion of space within the picture plane are key to my paintings. A playful sense of a fantasy garden is the idea. The canvas in this case is actually paper with a fast surface. I
prefer this surface as the acrylics can be worked wet. Similar to watercolor a well organized sequence of building
shapes is most desirable. The paper rebounds from the wetness and keeps a smooth uniformity. Then I can work in
with more solid colors. Bright color can be muted with glazes. This is my approach. I keep working till the garden space is well described."
