    Biography

Joel Finley's childhood in Queens New York had little to do with a very personal world he created. Contrast of a family trying to "Fit in" to a bustling community and his discovery of art would influence his views of common scenes in an uncommon world. Also in contrast to the city he attended The Silvermine College Of Art, cloistered in a tiny Connecticut town. There his world emerged full blast. Mostly his work is from memory as it comes to rest in the world it feels most comfortable in. Finley believes we all have a private memory state, which filters our perception of the world. These associations sometimes emerge as dreams, or dream-like memories. Color goes a long way to interpret Finley's worlds.
