This painting "Woman With Green Hair" is a heavily embedded concept statement combined with a portrait. A combination of painting ideas about light, the mark on the canvas, and the physicality of paint, and color-object relationship converged. The subject and I shared a fondness for a movie called "The Boy With Green Hair". | 
Bruce and I met on the Greek island of Hydra. He wanted a portrait which expressed who he was in that magical time and space. The sittings were at my studio, but much of the heart of the painting was discovered in our talks at the local taverna. |
